SPV22 | 2/2 Pilot-Operated
Valve for Sensor Cleaning
Voltage-controlled, low-noise pilot-operated valve for space- and weight-constrained ADAS systems
Precision Sensor Cleaning with our SPV22
Our SPV22 is a compact, voltage-controlled 2/2 pilot-operated valve specifically designed for sensor-cleaning applications in ADAS and automated driving systems. Its pilot-based architecture enables high functional performance while maintaining very low component mass, a minimal acoustic profile, and an extremely small installation footprint.
With a flow rate of 1.5 L/min at Δp ≤ 0.5 bar (20°C, water), the SPV22 delivers a technically robust solution for efficient and targeted cleaning pulses to ensure unobstructed visibility for camera, radar, and LiDAR sensors.
The platform is designed to be scalable and supports flexible integration scenarios at both OEM and Tier-1 system levels – ideal for modular ADAS architectures and future vehicle platforms.
Working principle
High Flow, Low Noise: The efficiency behind the pilot-operated design
The SPV22 operates on the principle of a pilot-operated 2/2-way valve controlled by a defined input voltage. When voltage is applied, a small pilot channel opens, creating a pressure differential inside the valve. This differential actuates the main piston or diaphragm and releases the primary flow. After the voltage is removed, the pilot path closes, the pressure equalizes, and the valve automatically returns to its predefined default position (NO or NC). This indirect actuation method enables high flow rates with significantly reduced electrical power consumption and very low acoustic emissions. The design supports short switching times, stable performance across the full operating pressure range, and an exceptionally compact form factor- key requirements for integration into modern sensor-cleaning systems.
Benefits at a glance
- Ultra-Lightweight Design
The reduced component mass enables efficient integration into weight- and space-sensitive vehicle architectures and supports modular sensor-cleaning systems without additional structural requirements. - Exceptionally Quiet Operation
The pilot-operated actuation system runs virtually silent, meeting the acoustic demands of modern driver-assistance and comfort systems – even when installed close to sensors or within passenger-compartment proximity. - Minimal Installation Space
Its compact form factor allows seamless integration into highly condensed packaging environments around camera, radar, and LiDAR modules – ideal for vehicle platforms with strict spatial constraints and limited installation volumes. - Scalable Platform Architecture
The valve can be easily adapted to different system architectures, cleaning strategies, and OEM-specific packaging or interface requirements. It supports variant development and modular ADAS system solutions. - Impressive Flow Performance
Delivering 1.5 L/min at Δp ≤ 0.5 bar (20°C, water), the valve provides high cleaning performance with low power consumption – ideal for efficient, precise, and rapid sensor-cleaning pulses. The valve can also be operated with air, enabling integration with minimal additional effort. - Switching Under Pressure
The valve can be actuated effortlessly against high system pressure (10 bar). Its specialized design ensures nearly identical switching response times across the full temperature range. - Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC)
Unlike current-controlled valves, which often face significant EMC challenges and require extensive mitigation, the SPV22’s purely voltage-controlled actuation exhibits no EMC concerns and can be deployed safely in areas with sensitive electronics.
