Meet Christoph Trettin, Plant Manager
Christoph Trettin, Plant Manager at Solero Malente, has nearly 30 years of experience at the plant, having started as an apprentice and worked through roles in industrial engineering, sales, and electronics. For him, Malente is more than just work — it’s home. With deep community ties and diverse experience, Christoph is well-equipped to lead the plant as it grows and innovates.
What makes Solero Malente unique?
“What excites me most about our location in Malente is our unique expertise in both electronics and molding. We’re the only Solero plant with deep capabilities in these areas. Our electronics team develops smart actuation solutions, seamlessly integrating hardware and software. Additionally, our advanced molding expertise, particularly in overmolding metal parts, sets us apart within the company. This capability not only enhances the durability of the valves we produce but also serves external customers, helping them create more reliable and robust products.”
What excites you about your work at Solero?
“What excites me most is Solero’s strategy. We’re focusing on six key segments, with a strong emphasis on electronics and smart actuation. Our products combine hardware and software in innovative ways that have a direct impact on the automotive industry.”
Can you tell us about the main product groups produced in Malente?
“We focus on two key product groups: seat massage valves and sensors. The seat massage valve is an innovative product that combines solenoids, electronics, and software into one system. Our sensors, primarily used in trucks, include rotating and linear sensors for applications such as level sensing, clutch positioning, and brake wear detection. These sensors are used globally, and we are constantly exploring new applications, such as for heavy-duty machinery, agriculture, and military use.”
How do you ensure the quality of your products and processes?
“We take quality very seriously. We hold certifications such as IATF 16949, ISO 14001, and ISO16247 compliance, demonstrating our commitment to safety, sustainability, and innovation. In addition, we employ advanced manufacturing technologies and systematic methods to optimize production. This includes Six Sigma for process improvement, Lean Management to eliminate waste, and OEE-Dashboard monitoring to track efficiency. By collaborating closely with our EU plants, we ensure consistent product safety and reliability across all operations.”
How would you describe your leadership style?
“My leadership style is based on trust and empowerment. I believe in giving my team the freedom to act and make decisions. I visit production and development departments regularly to listen to ideas, understand challenges, and provide guidance. It’s important to create an environment where people feel inspired, supported, and valued — especially during times of change.”
What opportunities lie ahead for Solero Malente?
“Solero Malente is poised for continued growth, capitalizing on its unique strengths in electronics and advanced overmolding. As industries evolve, our expertise in smart actuators and precision molding presents significant potential in automotive and beyond. Backed by Solero’s global network, we’re excited to expand into new sectors, applications, and regions, driving innovation while meeting the complex needs of our customers.”
