Tomáš Soldán, Managing Director

Meet Tomáš Soldán, Managing Director

Tomáš’ journey to leading Solero Prostějov reflects his lifelong passion for energy systems. Growing up in Prostějov, his fascination with energy began in secondary school, leading him to study mechanical engineering. His career has spanned various roles, including serving as a LEAN expert at Honeywell Aerospace, before taking charge at Solero Prostějov. Tomáš is deeply committed to the company’s core values, especially its “ALL-IN” philosophy, which drives the team’s success. It’s so important to him that he even has a number plate with the philosophy on his desk. For Tomáš, success is about the collective effort of his team and the growth they achieve together.

What inspired your passion for energy?

“My interest started in secondary school when I learned how energy fuels everything around us. It wasn’t just a concept—it powers the world. My father, a Ph.D., encouraged me to aim high, so I pursued mechanical engineering and later worked as a Production Manager while completing my postgraduate studies. It was intense, but I gave it my all.”

Did you always know you’d become Managing Director?

“Not at all! At the time, I was a Manufacturing Manager, and the offer came unexpectedly. I hesitated, but my father’s advice stuck with me: “Managing Directors are made by practice, not born.’ Stepping up from production management to overseeing financial and operational aspects was a challenge, but I learned quickly and built confidence.”

What’s the secret to your success as a team?

“It’s not just me—it’s the team. In my first year (2017), we restructured the company to better align people’s strengths with the roles where they could make the most impact. By assessing everyone’s skills and passions, we moved people into positions where they felt both empowered and aligned with our goals. We also automated processes, eliminated redundancies, and created new roles. This approach has helped us maintain strong engagement and achieve record-breaking performance in the following years. We keep reviewing our structure to ensure that everyone continues to grow and thrive.”

How do you keep the team motivated and engaged?

“In addition to the above, communication and recognition are key. We hold regular meetings to align everyone to company performance and highlight their contributions. We invest in training, from soft skills to conflict management, and ensure employees feel valued through rewards, team trips, and celebrations. It’s like family here—challenging work, but supported by a strong sense of purpose.
